Was chatting with a good friend of mine, Ian, on MSN and we were chatting about my message to the past: http://tiny.cc/B5MXG and I told him about having thought/written about past me visiting current me.
And we got chatting about the kinds of interactions past Ian/Ben would have with current Ian/Ben.
I said that I had to nip away as I was making a pudding that wouldn't make itself. Then I said "Maybe a future me will visit current me with one that does."
Ian said: oooh...that might be a little disarming. Like taking angel delight to the Victorians.
Imagine that!

I liked that very much - especially the line "I bring tidings of gentle survival"

I've heard something similar which is writing a letter to yourself for the future i.e your hopes/aspirations for 5/10/30 years down the line. I've never actually done it but maybe I should do. It would have been interesting to know what my aspirations were at the start of medical school, on qualifying and now further down the line where I want to be and how I want to be. Change happens not in great leaps but by small accruals of experience.
I'm still working on the question for your colleagues!
