I've made veiled references to my cousin being a stand up comedian.
And friends who know what my cousin gets up to compete with each other to send me information of clippings or spotting him in newspapers or on telly.
It's got to the point now where even my Aunt is sending me text messages about spotting Wil in the papers which I feel is cheating.
My cousin is Wil Hodgson. He won the perrier newcomer award in 20045 when the Guardian described him as being "Christ-like". (And I had to totally revise everything I believed in.
) (Review is here: http://tiny.cc/Cra9n )
The Guardian review wonders that Wil could be playing a character "in the style of Alan Partridge or the Pub Landlord". I can firmly say this isn't the case. Everything Wil talks about I've heard similar things growing up. He's the only cousin I have and he's always been a bit, well, odd. He and I were in Sea Cadets together, I lasted about two weeks longer than he did Wil was there for three years and I only managed a few months. He got marched into the river, I got strung up in a straitjacket and hung so my feet just brushed the ground. He's always been at the margins slightly.
He's an aquired taste, you either go with him or you don't. He's got a rambling style- more of a storyteller than comedian. There's a couple of clips of his DVD show on the website. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I'm loving his hair!
