Fairplay and I moved from talking about nuclear obliteration of Birmingham to violence and fear. The gauntlet was thrown down with the comment "There's another bizarre conversation for you "What's your favourite type of violence?"
But maybe you wouldn't want to know your work colleagues on that kind of level..."
I was determined to somehow steer the conversation round.. so subtly did it thus:
Picture wood panels, grand long table with important council types and bidders seated discussing important conucil type subjects. (I'm also there, sitting shoeless, cross legged on a seat taking notes)
The meeting is over, the bidders get up to leave their seats. Time to collect their coats and go home. They go. Conversation starts about what's just been discussed. There's a lull in the conversation as everyone has finished their thoughts.
I jump in with the words:
"This will sound a bit odd... you know we talked about the bunkers, someone who reads my blog wondered what your favourite type of violence was"
Everyone considers this for a moment. I gently offer that I'm partial to the destruction of worlds and the odd car crashing into helicopters but don't like torture or violence against women.
I feel this is a balanced offering that takes into account many parts of my personality.
The lady to my right (the one who gave me her seat in the bunker) says after thinking for a few moments: I think my favourite would be the kind that Tom and Jerry do where you can really hurt someone but they get up moments later and you can do something else.
The room reached a consensus that this was probably their favourite kind.

Ah, the safe kind of violence
Kudos for you for managing to get that in - very impressed!
