The strange conversations that go on around me.
I was sat with a number of high positioned council types chatting about our "in case of nuclear holocaust" and "in case of zombie uprising" strategies.
I was saying that I reckon my building would be defendable or that the council house would be a pretty good place to use. I think they've got some kind of "bunker" facility.
We discussed the pros and cons of being in a council facility. Everyone in the discussion had watched the film Threads. (If you've not seen it, you should!) In Threads all the council workers die after fighting amongst themselves.
I said I'd probably be ok. As long as I had a big map and a pointy stick and a red marker pen to mark where no longer existed I'd be fine.

Maybe if we had something like Threads for the 21st century all these teenagers wouldn't be stabbing each other due to the state of abject fear they would be living in!
When I was younger I was terrified of nuclear war, particularly after reading a book called "The Nuclear War Game" which had a chapter based on the effect of a nuclear bomb on Birmingham. Being from the area it kind of hit home, especially as it detonated over where my parents worked.
I didn't know the Soviets had a thing about Dudley Road!
