The Church of England's ruling General Synod has voted to consecrate women as bishops and approved a code of practice aimed at reassuring opponents. You can probably already guess where I fall on the issue. I'm totally in support of having women bishops.
Some clergy have threatened to leave over this issue. Many of those who threatened to leave are actually retired rather than serving clergy.
Lots of clergy have also threatened to leave over the issue of gay priests too.
I'm not in favour of or happy to see the Church of England split but trying to hold together too radically opposing groups of people can't be an easy job for Rowan Williams.

The C of E's position on women bishops has about as much meaning to my daily life as the colour of Wigan Athletic's away kit.
