Today a student accosted me as I was accosting them in the library.

He was walking quite quickly away from me and yelled at me

"The referendum is as much a lie as the guild throwing out the Christian Union two years ago!"

He walked too quickly for me to reply.

Needless to say it wouldn't have been right for me to reply but I did think that Christians were supposed to be about forgiveness..

Update 2009: And here's the document that caused all the trouble: http://tinyurl.com/aj2xj2

The issue that caused it all was to do with the fact the constitution required a particular set of beliefs, it also promoted evangelism which the Guild, as a charity, couldn't engage in. It could promote interfaith dialogue but not actual proselytizing.

Looking back now it does seem a bit of a storm in a teacup. High court reviews, stuff in the Times. Sheesh. The group continues externally to the Guild.
