Seems like Birmingham City council is in a wee bit of trouble. (Again, I hear you cry)

A huge battle is brewing with serious implications for over a million workers across Britain.

It will pitch up to 40,000 workers against the Tory-Liberal controlled council over the “single status” deal that is an urgent issue for everyone in local government.

Also the council blocked access to this website: http://www.birminghamsinglestatus.co.uk/ which is where they were consulting their workers about it. Nice to see censorship isn't dead.

I was listening to the "Red Rev" Cllr Richard Bashford speak last night on the issue. (It was a very informal thing please don't picture me with a notepad and nodding)

He said that the council used a couple of phrases which piqued my interest.

The council have been talking about "business transformation" which sounds like Council-speak for "Sacking people" or "moving people without retaining wages".

They also talked about "efficiency savings" which sounds like "cutting hours you work".

I know I get disappointed by the council on a regular basis and I poke them with a stick.. but... couldn't they even get this right?
